Validus Risk Management, a UK-based provider of market risk and capital markets solutions, secures a $45 million investment from FTV Capital, aiming to expand globally, especially in the US, APAC, and Europe.
Validus Risk Management, a UK-based provider of market risk and capital markets solutions, has secured a $45 million growth equity investment from FTV Capital, a Californian venture capital firm. This investment aims to fuel Validus’ global expansion, with a primary focus on growing its presence in the US, APAC, and further strengthening its position in the European markets.
Founded in 2010, Validus provides software and technology-enabled tools to fund managers across various sectors such as private debt, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and secondaries. The company specializes in managing risks associated with commodity prices, currency fluctuations, and interest rates.
Validus claims to execute over 3,000 trades monthly, with an annual hedging volume exceeding $330 billion. The company’s tools act as an “extension” to more than 100 clients worldwide.
The $45 million investment will support Validus’ efforts to accelerate its “go-to-market strategies” and further invest in its technology and product development. Mike Cichowski, a partner at FTV Capital, will join the Validus board of directors as part of the agreement.
Haakon Blakstad, Validus’ Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized that the collaboration with FTV Capital goes beyond financial support, saying, “We believe the strategic support, operating resources, and network that FTV will provide are worth many times more than the investment itself.”
FTV Capital, headquartered in San Francisco, has raised over $10.2 billion to invest in more than 140 companies. Last year, it resolved a legal dispute with one of its portfolio companies, Solid Financial Technologies, buying back its stake at a discounted price after a $61 million investment in 2022.
