The Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Development Council has trained over 9 lakh farmers in modern farming techniques through Facebook Live sessions. Since February 2024, the initiative has engaged more than 15 lakh farmers, including participants from Uttarakhand and Nepal. The program integrates expert guidance, real-time query resolution, and offline training at research centers, strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s dominance in sugarcane production.


The Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Development Council has trained over 9 lakh sugarcane farmers in the state through Facebook Live sessions, utilizing digital platforms to enhance agricultural knowledge and boost productivity. The initiative, which started in February 2024, has engaged more than 15 lakh farmers, including participants from neighboring Uttarakhand and Nepal.

The Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Development Council plays a key role in advancing sugarcane farming techniques through research-based training and innovative farming solutions. The organization provides farmers with access to modern agricultural practices, expert consultations, and financial guidance to improve yield and efficiency.

According to an official statement, these Facebook Live training sessions allow farmers to learn advanced farming techniques in real time while interacting with experts from sugarcane research institutions. This initiative aims to enhance crop productivity, making Uttar Pradesh the top sugarcane-producing state in India.

Since its inception, the Council has hosted 18 Facebook Live training programs, making technical knowledge more accessible than ever before. Farmers receive guidance on topics such as improved sugarcane varieties, efficient irrigation techniques, and sustainable farming practices. Additionally, the program addresses common concerns regarding payments, seed availability, and agricultural support.

Beyond digital sessions, the Council has also organized free offline training programs at sugarcane research centers in Muzaffarnagar, Shahjahanpur, and Seorahi, training over 19,039 farmers to date. Training camps have been held in various districts, including Meerut, Rampur, Lakhimpur, Bareilly, Hardoi, and Pilibhit, extending even to Nepal.

These efforts have significantly contributed to Uttar Pradesh’s dominance in sugarcane production and productivity. The state continues to lead in sugar production nationwide, ensuring sustained growth for its farmers through education and innovative farming techniques.
