The Union Cabinet of India has reportedly approved the Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, a transformative agricultural scheme aimed at enhancing crop productivity and promoting sustainability in 100 low-yielding districts. The initiative is expected to benefit 1.7 crore farmers across India.
India’s Union Cabinet, the top decision-making body of the Government of India headquartered in New Delhi, has reportedly granted approval for the Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana on July 16, 2025. This decision follows the scheme’s initial announcement during the presentation of the Union Budget 2025–26.
The PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana is an ambitious national-level agricultural initiative that targets 100 districts across the country characterized by low agricultural productivity. The core objectives include crop diversification, increased productivity, and promoting sustainable farming practices in regions that have historically lagged in output.
According to internal government estimates, the program is poised to benefit approximately 1.7 crore farmers, particularly small and marginal landholders who form the backbone of India’s agricultural economy.
While official documentation from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is awaited, sources suggest that the scheme will include tailored interventions such as the promotion of climate-resilient crops, support for agri-tech adoption, and region-specific training modules for farmers.
The Cabinet’s decision reflects the government’s continued focus on inclusive rural development and agricultural sustainability, key pillars of India’s long-term economic vision.
