Healthy food brand The Whole Truth (TWT) has raised $15 million in Series C funding, with European investment firm Sofina leading the round. The fresh capital injection will be used to expand in-house manufacturing, hire talent, and support category growth, the company announced.

Founded in 2019 by Shashank Mehta, an ex-Unilever marketer, The Whole Truth specializes in clean-label, nutrition-focused products such as protein bars, chocolates, peanut butter, and muesli. The brand also creates educational content to help consumers make informed food choices. It competes with brands like Wellbeing Nutrition, OZiva, and Plix in the growing healthy food sector.

The latest round saw participation from existing investors, including Z47, Peak XV Partners, and Sauce.VC. Prominent angel investors Nithin Kamath (Zerodha), Sriharsha Majety (Swiggy), and Jaydeep Burman (Rebel Foods) have also backed the company in earlier rounds.

Since its last major funding in January 2023, when it raised $15 million in Series B led by Peak XV (formerly Sequoia India), The Whole Truth has grown 3.5 times, pushing its estimated valuation to $250 million post-Series C.

Investor Confidence in The Whole Truth’s Mission:

Shashank and the team at The Whole Truth are not just building a brand—they’re leading a movement to restore trust in food and make it real again. Their growth over the last year proves that the mission resonates with consumers and investors.”

Vikram Vaidyanathan, Managing Director at Z47

At Sofina, we invest in mission-driven companies that align with our values of quality and long-term impact. The Whole Truth’s mission to redefine clean-label nutrition and build consumer trust strongly aligns with our vision.”

Yana Kachurina, Principal at Sofina

Booming Investor Interest in Clean-Label Food Startups

The funding comes amid growing investor interest in clean and healthy food startups in India. In January, Salad Days raised ₹30 crore ($3.6 million) in Series A funding from V3 Ventures, while Fambo, a startup connecting farms to restaurants, secured $2.5 million from EV2 Ventures.

With increasing consumer demand for health-conscious and transparent food options, The Whole Truth’s expansion plans are well-positioned to tap into India’s booming clean-label market.
