Skoda Auto India, marking its 25th anniversary in the country, aims to improve its export share in the group’s overall exports by improving planning. The company has launched the second-generation Kodiaq SUV and continues expanding its footprint in the global market.
Skoda Auto India, a subsidiary of the Czech automotive giant Skoda Auto, is focused on increasing its share in the group’s overall export portfolio through improved planning and a more strategic approach. As part of its efforts, the company aims to capitalize on the growing demand for electric and luxury vehicles globally, even as it continues its journey in the Indian market.
Petr Janeba, the Brand Director at Skoda Auto India, expressed the need for better export planning while discussing the company’s achievements and goals. “We need to fight more for exports. The main export driver has been the Volkswagen brand, but we’ve opened new markets, and we are seeing progress,” Janeba said. Skoda Auto India, a key player in the Indian automotive sector, is striving to improve exports and strengthen its position in new markets, including Southeast Asia and beyond.
Skoda Auto India’s focus on expanding its presence in global markets is evident from its new export initiatives. In addition to exporting fully-built units to Vietnam, the company is now starting to export auto parts to the Southeast Asian nation through Mumbai Port. This marks a significant milestone for the company, which views Vietnam as a gateway to the ASEAN region.
As the company celebrates its 25 years in India, Skoda Auto India is ramping up its efforts to meet the growing demand for vehicles both domestically and internationally. “We are committed to growing exports, but export should be planned with the development of the product,” Janeba emphasized, highlighting the importance of aligning product development with market-specific needs.
The company has also marked a significant milestone with the launch of its second-generation Kodiaq luxury SUV, which is priced at ₹46.89 lakh. The Kodiaq’s introduction underscores Skoda Auto India’s commitment to diversifying its product offerings, with a focus on luxury and advanced technology. “The Kodiaq is an important addition to our product lineup, joining the ranks of legacy names like the Octavia and Superb,” Janeba added.
Skoda Auto India’s export efforts are part of the broader strategy for Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd, which handles operations for multiple brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini in India. In 2024, the company exported 40 percent of its locally produced vehicles to regions including North America, Africa, and the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council.
Skoda Auto India’s dedication to expanding its global footprint and increasing exports reflects its long-term vision to establish a strong presence in key international markets. As the company moves forward, it plans to enhance its production capabilities, boost export volumes, and introduce innovative new models like the Kodiaq to further strengthen its global standing.
