India’s Ola Electric reported a Q4 FY25 loss of ₹870 crore, more than double from last year, causing its stock to plunge by 10%. The company also dropped to third in EV sales.
Bengaluru-based Ola Electric, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer founded in 2017, has reported a net loss of ₹870 crore in Q4 FY25, more than double its loss of ₹416 crore in the same quarter last year. The poor earnings triggered a sharp 10% drop in the company’s stock during intraday trading. By market close, shares settled 4.49% lower at ₹50.85.
The company’s revenue from operations also plummeted 62% year-on-year to ₹611 crore, down from ₹1,598 crore in Q4 FY24. The steep fall in both revenue and profitability comes despite Ola’s aggressive push in the electric two-wheeler segment.
Ola Slips to Third in EV Sales
Ola Electric’s market performance mirrors its declining position in India’s electric vehicle (EV) space. According to vehicle registration data, Ola’s market share fell to 20% in May 2025, down from a stronger presence last year. The company registered 15,221 vehicles, compared to 37,388 units in May 2024—a steep 60% drop.
Meanwhile, TVS Motor captured the top spot with a 25% market share, followed by Bajaj Auto at 22.6%. Competitor Ather Energy also saw a drop, from 14.9% in April to 13.1% in May.
Stock Performance and Market Cap
Despite a brief uptick of over 4% in the past month, Ola Electric’s stock has declined more than 44% over the last year. The company currently holds a market capitalization of ₹22,290 crore.
Understanding Standalone vs. Consolidated Results
For investors, it’s important to note that companies report two sets of results:
- Standalone reports reflect the financial performance of the company on its own.
- Consolidated results include the performance of all subsidiaries and group entities.
As Ola Electric navigates financial headwinds and rising competition, analysts expect close scrutiny from shareholders and regulators in upcoming quarters.
