India’s state-owned Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has secured a Guinness World Record for selling the most life insurance policies in a single day. On January 20, 2025, LIC issued 588,107 policies across the country through its extensive network of 452,839 agents. Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, LIC is India’s largest life insurance company, providing financial protection to millions of citizens. The achievement, led under the guidance of LIC MD and CEO Siddhartha Mohanty during the “Mad Million Day” campaign, marks a historic global benchmark in the insurance sector.
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, has secured a Guinness World Record for issuing the highest number of life insurance policies in a single day. LIC, a state-owned enterprise and India’s largest life insurance provider, accomplished this milestone on January 20, 2025.
In a statement, LIC revealed that 588,107 life insurance policies were successfully completed and issued within a 24-hour period across India. This remarkable achievement was made possible by the efforts of 452,839 LIC agents, setting a new global benchmark for agent productivity in the life insurance sector.
The campaign, named “Mad Million Day,” was a strategic initiative spearheaded by LIC’s Managing Director and CEO, Siddhartha Mohanty, who encouraged every agent to complete at least one policy that day. The result was a massive nationwide effort that has now been officially recognised by Guinness World Records.
