BluSmart, the electric cab-hailing platform operating in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, halts its services following regulatory action. The company, known for its 8,500 EV fleet and 5,800 charging stations, leaves netizens heartbroken over the suspension.

BluSmart, the popular electric cab-hailing platform, has temporarily suspended its services across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. The company, which has made waves with its fleet of over 8,500 electric vehicles (EVs) and a network of 5,800 charging stations, cited regulatory issues as the primary reason for halting operations. The move has left many of its loyal customers in despair, with social media flooded with messages of frustration and sadness.

BluSmart, known for its commitment to sustainability, had a strong presence in three of India’s busiest cities, offering rides in “clean, odourless, and least-cancelled” cars. The company’s dedication to providing a functional, eco-friendly, and reliable service had earned it a loyal customer base, with some users even claiming the service “spoiled” them.

“I’ve been using BluSmart for my daily morning commute and loved everything about it. The clean cars, the reliability, and the fact that they were helping the environment—it was a game changer for me,” one user shared. Many echoed similar sentiments, with some joking about the emotional toll the pause had taken. “I don’t think my sister in NCR was this heartbroken even after her breakup,” one user humorously said.

The decision to halt services follows recent regulatory actions from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Earlier this week, SEBI banned BluSmart’s co-founders, Anmol and Puneet Jaggi, from participating in stock market activities. The ban was imposed as part of an investigation into allegations that the Jaggis had misused funds intended for procuring electric vehicles for personal gain. This has raised concerns over the future of the company, leading to its decision to pause bookings on its app without providing further details to customers.

BluSmart had a vision of providing a seamless and eco-conscious alternative to traditional cab services, and it expanded its offerings to include premium electric limousine services in the UAE last year. The company’s operations in India also saw the integration of its vehicles with Amazon Fresh as part of a hybrid retail model.

In the wake of BluSmart’s troubles, some users have proposed potential solutions, with a few suggesting that major players like Adani Group or private equity firms come to BluSmart’s rescue. “Adani Ji, please buy BluSmart and make Delhi people your permanent supporters,” one user commented.

As BluSmart navigates through its regulatory hurdles, its customers remain hopeful for a future where the service can continue to offer sustainable transportation options in the face of adversity.
