The ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, has fueled a massive surge in sales and user engagement for India’s spiritual startups. Companies such as Sri Mandir, Vama, and AstroYogi have recorded unprecedented growth as millions of devotees sought virtual access to religious services.
With an estimated 62 crore devotees participating in the 45-day-long event, digital platforms facilitating online pujas, guided pilgrimages, and sacred offerings have seen a record-breaking increase in transactions.
Tech Meets Tradition: Startups Reap Big Gains
Delhi-based Vama, co-founded by Manu Jain, reported a 50% surge in user transactions during the Maha Kumbh period. To cater to rising demand, Vama launched specialized services, including live kathas, home delivery of Triveni Gangajal, and daily chadhava at Triveni Sangam. The platform saw a 70% rise in new user registrations, highlighting the growing appetite for virtual spiritual experiences.
Similarly, Sri Mandir, a Peak XV-backed startup, exceeded revenue expectations with offerings like the Mahakumbh Ashirvad Box, VIP Snan services, and personalized pujas at Triveni Sangam. Founder Prashant Sachan confirmed a 40-50% revenue surge, attributing the growth to high demand for authentic religious experiences.
Gurugram-based AstroYogi also capitalized on the Maha Kumbh boom, witnessing a 50% uptick in online poojas and a 30% rise in spiritual product sales. Over 100,000 devotees who couldn’t attend in person engaged with the event virtually via the platform.
Massive Economic Impact
The Maha Kumbh 2025, backed by a ₹7,000 crore budget, has not only benefited spiritual startups but also boosted travel and hospitality sectors. Ticket bookings for trains, buses, and flights to Prayagraj have surged, reflecting the overwhelming participation.
