Tesla’s first retail presence has been established in Mumbai, with upcoming showrooms planned for New Delhi and Gurugram. Deliveries of the Model Y are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025, focusing initially on these three cities.
The Model Y will be available in two variants:

Performance-wise, the RWD variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and the Long Range RWD variant does it in 5.6 seconds, both reaching a top speed of 201 kmph.
Inside, the Model Y boasts a minimalist and aerodynamic design to enhance efficiency. It features all-LED lighting, eight exterior cameras, and a spacious cabin with premium textiles and aluminium detailing. Key features include:
- 15.4-inch front and 8-inch rear touchscreen displays
- Ventilated front seats and heated second-row
- Wrap-around ambient lighting and nine-speaker sound system
- Second-generation adaptive suspension for cabin quietness
- Laminated, infrared-reflective safety glass on windows and roof
Tesla has tailored its offering to match India’s price-sensitive market by launching the RWD version first, with the Long Range RWD providing an additional premium option.
The launch reinforces Tesla’s long-term strategy for India, aiming to tap into a rapidly growing EV segment. The expansion aligns with government goals to accelerate clean energy adoption and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
